Mattie Lawson—NC House District 6

“I have 24 years of experience in the business world specializing in helping organizations become more lean by reducing waste and increasing productivity.  I believe I can apply that practical experience in the Legislature.  I know what it takes to run a small business and we need more fiscally responsible business people in Raleigh.”

I am an unashamed Christian conservative activist from the beautiful and friendly town of Kill Devil Hills, NC.  A small business owner and busy grandmother, two of my children and four grandchildren live nearby in the Outer Banks.

I retired to Eastern North Carolina from Northern Virginia.  I worked for Raytheon Corporation where I was a Principal Systems Engineer government contractor for the National Geo-Spatial Intelligence Agency in Reston, VA.  My role was the Process Engineering Department Head.  My expertise is Six Sigma: reducing waste and improving quality. My small business is consulting with organizations to become more “lean”.  My company, MoreTime Consulting, has been active in Dare County since 2005, though, to be honest, spending time with grandchildren have had a much higher priority with me.

My church is Liberty Christian Fellowship in Colington, NC, where I am active as a member of the Safety and Security Team, coordinate the lovely greeter staff, occasionally fill-in on the sound team and gladly perform other tasks as needed.

I started the TEA Party movement in the Outer Banks.  Our first TEA Party was held in April 2009 at the Wright Brothers Monument.  I’ve been active in many TEA Party activities since.  I participated in a Freedom Rally in Hatteras Island on March 20th and in the 0bamacare protest in Washington DC at the Supreme Court Building on March 27th.

I have been in leadership positions with the Dare County Republican Party and the 3rd Congressional District Republican Party since 2007.  I have worked hard for my convictions as the County Party Secretary, the District Publicity Chair, an At-Large District Executive and a member of the NC Executive Board for the last 5 years.

I am a voting member of the Town of Kill Devil Hills Board of Adjustment since 2007.

We, that is myself and those supporting my campaign, want to serve all District 6 citizens by being your advocate for fewer regulations, smaller government, lower taxes and realistic job opportunities for the unemployed and underemployed.  Let’s give our children and grandchildren good reasons to have confidence in their futures.
